Caesar (1966 – 2005)

Caesar believed in truth. He approached complex and multi-level concepts, saw through to their truths, and then captured that truth on film.

Caesar once wrote that his photography “shows how nature reflects the truths of the world.” Caesar’s gift showed his truth expressing love: love of creation (nature and man-made), love of the United States, and love of those who make up the heart-beat of America – the little person, the forgotten person, those bypassed by progress, and the Civil War soldier.

After high school, Caesar served in the United States Navy, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Military Unit Commendation Ribbon, and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (Third Award). He was honorably discharged in 1990. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, Caesar began developing his own photographic style.

Caesar felt strongly that photographers should capture that which is real, and they should not manipulate images back in the studio. His pictures show life as it is, in reality. His work was selected for juried shows at the Center for the Arts of Southern New Jersey, the Burlington County of Chosen Freeholders, and the Burlington County Art Guild. His work is fast becoming an integral part of private collections across the country.

On December 8, 2005, Caesar passed away from malignant melanoma complications, and went home to Heaven.

Katherine and Caesar married December 20, 1997. Katherine explains:

“I always believed Caesar’s pictures were a blessing. Over and over people share with me the serenity they feel when they look at his work. They talk about the peace the images evoke for them, and how they want to use his work to create that peaceful atmosphere in their homes and offices. Many have worked with me to select a range of prints that harmonize and bring the beauty, spirituality, and calm to their lives.”

Katherine has catalogued Caesar’s work and offers framed and unframed prints for sale through SRG Publications.

Artistic Statement

With his gift, Caesar found unique perspectives of truth and reality, frequently on everyday places and things. His work is worthy of the common man and woman. His photographs reflect the fruits of Caesar’s gentle and loving spirit: love, joy, beauty, peace, serenity, truth, and reality.

Many people who absorb his work see art, worthy of museums. Others are struck by a perspective; a particular beauty, reality, or truth; a serenity; or some combination of all. Frequently, in an exhibit, people will feel the love and serenity of Caesar’s spirit upon them. As such, the photographs promote healing and well-being.

Reflections

Reflections shows an unusual lake view of the trees surrounding it. The ripples show clearly the truth of the expanded rhythm of life. All is interconnected. As humans we are an integral part of that rhythm, as we interact with others our actions and words ripple across humanity having a lasting effect.

Pumpkin Harvest

In Pumpkin Harvest, Caesar shares with us the beauty in the repetition we see each day or our lives. Life is repetitive and cyclic, with variations as individual humans “ripple” within the world around them. Caesar photographed many subjects featuring that repetition, from a field of daises, to a dish of candy, to bleachers in a stadium, to leaves on a tree. Enjoy the repetitions in your life. Each has unique beauty in their sameness with all.
